The Center for International Affairs at the Academy of Korean Studies is pleased to announce the upcoming 192nd AKS Colloquium on Korean Studies (3nd Session of 2025) as follows.
The "AKS Colloquium on Korean Studies" is part of the AKS Fellowship Program, providing a platform for international researchers conducting Korean studies in Korea to present their research findings and engage in academic exchange. This session will feature presentations by the 2025 AKS Fellowship recipients, sharing the results of their ongoing research. We cordially invite your interest and participation.
Abstract:
In both Japan and South Korea, the increasing number of children with immigrant backgrounds has required schools to address the issue, and the development of human resources capable of supporting and teaching these children has become a pressing task. This presentation will explore how human resources responsible for educating linguistically and culturally diverse children are being developed in teacher training universities in South Korea, with reference to differences between South Korea and Japan. Focusing on teacher training universities in the Seoul metropolitan and central regions, the study examines curricula, course content, and interviews with relevant stakeholders. This study is expected to offer insights into the development of human resources at teacher training universities in Japan, which face similar challenges.
